Last month, Samsung introduced its next-gen Chromebook models and now the devices have been made available for pre-order in the US with prices starting at $320 / €233 and up.

As you might well be aware by now, the Samsung Chromebook 2 comes in two versions, the 11.6-inch one which will take you back $320 / €233 and the larger 13.3-inch one that costs $400 / €291.

The notebooks will start shipping out to customers in late April, but if you want to make sure you’ll be one of the first ones to adopt one of these new babies, you can place a pre-order now.

Furthermore, the same Chromebook models are also up for pre-order on Amazon and B&H, in case you don’t want to go ordering from the Samsung official layer, for some reason.

Anyway, for those of you who don’t know, Samsung’s new Chromebooks up things quite a bit in the performance department, as well in the battery life cycle. The new Chrome laptops will also be lighter and thinner, as to keep up with the increasingly large number of super thin devices available on the market.

Apart from Toshiba’s Chromebook, the Samsung Chromebooks 2 is the only one to offer the 13.3-inch offer display wise. You might remember what we told you this weekend, one of ASUS’ upcoming Chomebook models is expected to arrive with a larger 13.3-inch one, too.

There’s another first to be noticed in the resolution department, where Samsung has added a full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels), which explains the larger price on the 13.3-inch model.

On the other hand, the smaller 11.6-inch model comes with the more standard resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels (which is what the 13.3-inch Toshiba one is offering too).

Under the hood, the two Chromebook models bundle an Exynos 5 Octa processors. Exynos 5 Octa chips come from Samsung’s own garden, which is reportedly trying to expand in the AP market.

This particular chip architecture bundles an eight-core ARM big.LITTLE processor build specifically to better handle multiple tasks in high-end devices.

Samsung promises a 125% increase in computing and two times the multimedia performance compared to different models. Improved battery life also represents a by-product of the embedded architecture.

The 11.6-inch model has an Exynos Octa based on four big cores (ARM Cortex-A15 processor at 1.9GHz) and four small cores (ARM Cortex-A7 processor at 1.3GHz).

Comparatively, the 13.3-inch model is powered by an Exynos 5 Octa with big.LITTLE technology. Anyway, if any of these two notebook sound good to you, you know where to go and place your pre-order.
