The Samsung Vibrant for T-Mobile is not the only Galaxy S smartphone in the United States to have seen a major price cut only a several months after being officially released on the market, as the Samsung Captivate shares the same fate.

Samsung Captivate, the AT&T flavor of Galaxy S, is currently available for purchase from Amazon Wireless for only $0.01, just as Vibrant is priced at since last week.

Of course, the device still requires the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the wireless carrier to be available at this price, but it feature should seem appealing enough for users to give it a try.

“The super-smart Samsung Captivate for AT&T brings a fully integrated entertainment, messaging and social networking experience to your mobile phone, thanks to its open and innovative Android 2.1 platform,” the retailer notes.

However, this is not all that Captivate can do, as it is powered by a 1 GHz processor with enhanced multimedia capabilities, while boasting 7.2 Mbps 3G connectivity.

The Captivate comes with a large 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto-focus and HD video recording at 720p resolution.

The phone boasts 16GB of internal memory space, complemented by a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

The handset's specifications list also includes Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) and Bluetooth 3.0 technology, along with support for AT&T's HSDPA/UMTS network (850/1900 MHz bands and 3.6/7.2 Mbps speeds.

Other features of this Android-based device include a full HTML Web browser, rich HTML e-mail application, YouTube app for streaming video, as well as the Samsung Social Hub for advanced communication capabilities.

The phone comes with advanced Google technology, such as Google Search by voice, Google Maps with Street View, GTalk instant messaging (with presence capabilities), YouTube, and Picasa.
