J.K Shin refutes rumors of an earlier release

Just a few days ago, we told you that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 might arrive earlier this year, but the latest piece of information related to the matter now claims this is not actually the case.

A pretty obscure source claimed not so long ago that Samsung was looking to counter Apple’s big iPhone launch in 2015, by outing the Galaxy Note 5 before the Cupertino tech giant has the chance to make any move.

Subsequently, a second report surfaced saying that Apple too was looking to launch its iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus ahead of schedule, probably in August.

Combining the two tidbits, it seemed like we would have ended up having a very busy summer in terms of smartphone releases. However, this doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

Don't expect to see the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 before September

As G for Games reports, Samsung Electronics CEO JK Shin was made aware of the rumors circulating around the web, so he stepped forward and told the press that the phablet would not be released ahead of schedule.

The decision makes a lot of sense, especially since launching the Galaxy Note 5 ahead of schedule would have meant the company didn't mind cannibalizing the sales of the recently released Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.

Shin also refuted rumors according to which the company already showed a working prototype of the phablet to carrier partners.

So, it appears Samsung will be sticking to the initial schedule and it is aiming a September launch date for its next big thing. Sorry if you were hoping to see it earlier.

The rumor mill has been quite vocal about Samsung’s next phablet and the device is shaping up to be quite a beast.

If we’re to listen to the leaks, the Galaxy Note 5 will arrive with a 5.9-inch 4K Super AMOLED display and an Exynos SoC on the inside, not a Qualcomm one.

At some point, it was said that Samsung was testing Galaxy Note 5 units with an Exynos 7430 chipset on the inside and a 4K display. However, it remains to be seen if Samsung manages to get these components ready by the time IFA 2015 starts in Berlin.
