The information available so far on this Samsung does not offer too many clues, but just enough to keep us interested. This clamshell, already been confirmed as going to MetroPCS, may not offer, at least at first sight, the most appealing features, but it is definitely worth considering.

This Byline could fit in the already talked about category of the not so advanced, but cheaper and reliable mobiles Samsung seems to be counting on for the financially struggling 2009. Coming in a red finish, this mobile focuses on messaging capabilities.

By far, the most appreciated feature this phone offers is the one touch communication ChatLINK button, which enables users to manage the device’s messaging capabilities with great ease and also displays a variety of such services in order to respect the user’s needs. This application, also called the walkie-talkie because of its quick and easy manageability, offers text, email, plus IM capabilities for the user's delight.

Besides SMS, EMS and MMS capabilities, the SCH r-310 comes with a fairly useful English and Spanish user interface, voice recognition, and navigation key. All these features are set to deliver one of the most pleasing messaging experiences such a mobile can offer. Furthermore, this Samsung delivers Bluetooth support, plus the metroWeb application that make it very easy to use in order to keep in touch with the latest news and Internet action.

Also, the two displays, the internal 1.77″ (128 x 160 Pixel) 65K CSTN s and the 1.0″ (96 x 96 Pixel) 65K CSTN external one, have been specifically designed to work perfectly with this phone's messaging and web browsing capabilities.

Moving on to the final part of the presentation, the Byline SCH r-310, in its red finish does not strike one as the most attractive phone, seeming a bit old and out of fashion, but it makes up for that with its measures (88.9 x 43.8 x 19.5mm) and weight (92g). Considering the fact that it is a clamshell, the device should be taken into consideration.
