Display capabilities that will blow your mind

Last week, we were telling you of the Taiwanese Research Institute having developed a smartphone that had display folding capabilities, thus creating 5'' of display from less. Samsung has come up with a slightly different approach, and has created a folding display that opens up like a book to enable a much more pleasant viewing experience.

This creation is a concept phone, and has seemingly gotten everybody very excited about it. It has already been showed to the public at the FPD International Show in Yokohama and, if we were to take a closer look at what it is said to be capable of, the excitement and attention this device is generating no longer seem too much.

When coming to create a phone that meets today's requirements, meaning a device that is small, but that will not become lost in one’s pocket among loose change, that is also good looking and altogether appealing to as many people as possible, and that packs a mean display, capable of showing many things at once using advanced graphics quality, the solution list was limited. So, Samsung has simply taken advantage of this paradox created around mobiles, and has come up with a rather small, attractive and flexible OLED display that should be to the liking of most, or so at least for now.

Skipping all other features, what this phone actually does is to unveil and unfold a large screen in front of your eyes. When the viewing starts, the phone magisterially uncovers the largest mobile screen you've ever seen, bringing along a much more impressive viewing experience. Furthermore, once it has done its job, it closes down and becomes the same good looking acquisition of before.

As noted above, this is only a concept phone, so the date when a handset might be equipped with such a technology is simply anyone's best guess for now. The phone is currently being showed off everywhere in Japan, with the rest of the world to probably follow soon enough.

Here's one of the videos showing this mobile’s display capabilities:
