Samsung Brings Corby TV and Metro TV to India

Samsung launches two phones in India, Corby TV and Metro TV

South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics recently announced the launch of two new handsets on the Indian market, the Corby TV and Metro TV. Both mobile phones feature integrated broadband Mobile TV on the CDMA platform, being the first handsets ever launched in India with this functionality on board.

“Samsung has always taken the lead in introducing innovative technology products for consumers that have set industry benchmarks. Last year, with the Corby Speed, we introduced users to hi-speed internet connectivity in the CDMA space. Now with the launch of Corby TV and Metro TV, we bring to India the first ever handsets with integrated broadband mobile TV,” Ranjit Yadav, director - Mobile and IT, Samsung India Electronics Pvt. Ltd., commented.

The new Samsung Corby TV comes with a 2.8-inch QVGA vibrant TFT display and is capable of providing a full-touch experience. The phone includes a one-touch widget on home screen for fast access to channel selection, while offering support for Mobile TV streaming on both CDMA 1X and EVDO 3G mobile networks. Moreover, Corby TV, as well as Metro TV, includes support for 40+Live channels and 10+ Content on Demand channels.

The handset sports a 2-megapixel photo snapper with video recording capabilities, instant access to various social networking sites, as well as 32 one-touch widgets. Additional features include support for 2.4 Mbps data speeds, stereo FM radio, Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 8GB of additional storage space. The handset lands in India with a price tag of Rs. 9699 attached to it.

As for Metro TV, it includes a 2-inch TFT display, a 2-megapixel camera with video recording capabilities, support for 2.4 Mbps data speeds, stereo FM radio, Bluetooth 2.0, dedicated music keys, and a microSD memory card slot with support for 8GB cards. An English dictionary and an advanced mobile tracker and SOS alert are also included in the package, all available in a device priced at Rs. 6999.
