South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has announced today the launch of its Samsung Blue Earth eco-friendly device, which comes to the market with a full-touch display. The handset was showed to the world for the first time back in February at the Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona, and has already been spotted in the wild a few times since then.
According to the company,
the new device comes with a wide range of multimedia features that are meant to prove it one of the nicest environmentally friendly handsets on the market. The device also comes with low power needs, as well as with eco-friendly materials included in it, besides the multimedia features and the stylish design.
“
Samsung’s Blue Earth is not just another addition to our mobile line-up, but a significant step forward in our commitment to protecting the environment,” said Mr. JK Shin, executive vice president and head of the Mobile Communication Division of Samsung Electronics. "I am very pleased to announce the launch [of] this landmark eco mobile, and Samsung will continue to introduce innovative eco-friendly mobiles like Blue Earth to target the broader consumers.”
Samsung also says that the launch of Blue Earth shows its commitment to deliver
eco-friendly products to the market. The device is made out of Post Consumer Material (PCM), extracted from water bottles, which lowers fuel consumption and carbon emissions during production. Moreover, it does not include harmful substances like Brominated Flame Retardants (BFR), Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) and Phthalate.
The new Samsung Blue Earth comes to the market with a 5 star energy efficient charger, the company added. At the same time,
the mobile phone also includes an “Eco mode” that enables users to set screen brightness, backlight duration and Bluetooth to an energy-efficient mode with a single click. The new eco-friendly device will be launched in Sweden in October and is expected to reach other countries in Europe and Asia, including France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Portugal and others, in the near future.
