Samsung Mobile and T-Mobile USA have announced today that a new handset will become available on the carrier's airwaves with Google's Android operating system on board, the Samsung Behold II. Sporting full touch capabilities, the new handset also includes Samsung’s next-generation TouchWiz user interface, and can deliver a rich mobile experience on T-Mobile’s high-speed 3G network, the two companies stated.

The new mobile phone will become available for purchase exclusively from T-Mobile, and should hit the shelves sometime before the holiday season. The phone comes with a variety of entertainment and connectivity options, including popular Google services like Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube and Google Talk, not to mention easy access to the Android Market, where users can find a wide range of applications for their handsets.

“T-Mobile continues to expand our line-up of Android-powered phones in time for the holiday season with the addition of the Samsung Behold II,” said Travis Warren, director, product marketing, T-Mobile USA. “The premium screen and quality camera coupled with Samsung’s innovative cube menu makes the Behold II a multimedia powerhouse that’s made even stronger by T-Mobile’s high-speed 3G network.”

Samsung Behold II's spec list shows a 3.2-inch AMOLED screen and the TouchWiz UI that enables easy customization through widgets, three different home screens, an intuitive cube menu for fast access to music, photos, videos, or the Internet. In addition, the new Android-based phone also includes a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus, flash and video recording capabilities, Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, built-in GPS with assisted GPS features, MP3 player, visual voicemail capabilities, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 16GB of additional storage space.

“We’re excited to announce Samsung’s first Android-powered device with T-Mobile in the U.S.,” said Omar Khan, senior vice president of strategy and product management for Samsung Mobile. “The Behold II follows the success of the Behold that launched last year taking the device and user experience to the next level with the Android platform, a large 3.2-inch AMOLED screen, next generation TouchWiz user interface and customization capabilities and premium features.”
