Samsung has been already reported to come to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month with three new mobile phones, among which the Samsung B2100 has been spotted. The rugged handset is stated to look much like the company's B2700 device, which has been around for about half a year already.

Coming as the trimmed-down, sturdier version of the B2700, Samsung B2100 is a candybar that features the IP57 certification, and it is stated to be fully waterproof – it can hold up to 30 minutes in water up to 1m deep – as well as dust and sand resistant.

B2100 does not include an impressive range of features, yet it has what it takes for a sturdy phone. Users will be able to enjoy a 1.77-inch TFT color display, which can deliver a 128 x 160 resolution, as well as a 1.3-megapixel photo snapper, FM radio, 10MB of built-in memory and support for microSD memory cards. Besides these features, Bluetooth 2.0 and USB 2.0 connectivity are also included, along with speakerphone options, with a second mic on top, ambient noise filter and programmable vibration profiles.

The rugged candybar will support GSM (900/1800/1900 MHz) network standards. Although there will be no 3G support included, the Samsung B2100 still comes with EDGE data transfer, so not all hope is lost. In addition, the device will feature three color versions, namely Scarlet Red, Dark Geen and Modern Black.

Undoubtedly, the Samsung B2100 will not see much traction from gadget phone enthusiasts, but workers who need to go outdoors often might find the device as a great option. The phone is expected to hit the market in March, at an estimated price tag of 90 Euros (120 US dollars), which isn't that much for a rather indestructible handset. The company will offer more details on the phone at MWC, so sit tight.
