Things like these are the reason analysts think Windows 8 devices are overpriced

The Series 5 Ultra may have gotten away with a “reasonable” price, but that doesn't hold true for the Ativ Smart PC 500T and 700T tablets, especially the latter.

The licensing fee demanded by Microsoft in exchange for the use of Windows 8 has a stake in this matter, just like it influenced the selling price of the ASUS Vivo Tab RT.

Sure, these are Windows 8 slates, not Windows RT, so their hardware is a bit on the strong side, but the tags of $749.99 / 750 Euro and $1,199.99 / 1,200 Euro are still high.

The former device is powered by the Intel Atom Z2760 Clover Trail CPU and has 2 GB of RAM, while the latter (Ativ Smart PC 700T) gets a Core i5 CPU and 4 GB of memory, plus double the storage space (128 GB vs. 64 GB).

Samsung didn't say when it would ship the newcomers, but with the OS set to launch on October 26, we assume orders will be met starting from that day onwards.
