Samsung SGH-L870 (also known as Samsung L870) will feature the OneDRAM technology, which boosts data processing speeds and improves the handset's overall performance, the South Korean manufacturer has announced.

Samsung's OneDRAM also boosts 3D graphics performance, while at the same time reducing the power consumption (which results in a longer battery lifetime for the handset).

“Thanks to Samsung’s OneDRAM, we were able to come up with faster and more efficient multimedia features for SGH-L870. The Samsung L870 is the best solution for consumers who want to have business-like efficiency combined with exciting multimedia features for personal use,” declared Vice President of Samsung Electronics' Handset R&D Team, E.S. Hwang.

Vice President, Memory Division, Samsung, Sei-Jin Kim added, “In order to stay competitive, handset OEMs are requiring higher performance to support a larger array of services and functions at cost-effective prices. Samsung’s embedded memory solutions, such as our new OneDRAM, have been welcomed by leading application designers around the world for their performance enhancements, cost efficiency and timely technical support.”

Officially unveiled by Samsung and Nokia at the end of May, the L870 is a good-looking smartphone that runs on Symbian S60 3rd Edition, and comes in a slider form factor (somehow looking like several of Nokia's handsets).

The features of SGH-L870 are as follows: tri-band GSM connectivity (900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with GPRS and EDGE, HSDPA 2100 connectivity, a 2.4-inch TFT display with 16 million colors and QVGA resolution, full HTML browser (based on Apple's Safari), push email, RSS reader, document viewer, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, Music and Video players RDS FM radio, a 3.2 Megapixel camera with auto focus, USB 2.0, business card recognition and expandable memory.

Samsung L870 is on sale across Europe for prices starting at around 240 Euros (340 USD), depending on the seller and location.
