The problem of intellectual property can be a very serious one, especially when speaking about patents or other issues related to technological secrets.
And in order to avoid exactly these types of problems and the costly legal disputes associated to them, two of the world's greatest mobile technology
manufacturers, Samsung and Motorola, have decided to establish a cross-licensing agreement, in order to share their technological information with each other.
This is not the Korean company's first initiative of this type. Last year, Samsung has signed an agreement with Sony regarding the sharing of patents on basic technologies such as those associated with chips and industry standard technologies.
Samsung is not the only Korean company to have established such an agreement, because LG Electronics did something similar when it agreed earlier this year to settle a dispute over plasma display technologies and to cross-license patents on plasma, personal computers and DVDs with the Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. from Japan.
Samsung gave no details regarding the agreement's conditions or terms, saying just that they are confidential elements, according to the contract signed by the two companies.
