Leaked two weeks ago, the Samsung Admire has just been confirmed by Cellular South, who is expected to release the Android smartphone in the next few days.

Initially slated for a MetroPCS release, Samsung Admire is a mid-budget Android smartphone that will probably be picked by other regional carriers as well.

Although pricing and release date are still unknown, Cellular South customers who want to purchase the Admire can register on the carrier's website to receive a notification via email when the smartphone is available.

The latest hearsay suggests that the smartphone could run for $149 after a $50 instant rebate, while the full price of the phone might be $199, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Apparently, the reddish Samsung Admire is powered by Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and comes with a 3.5-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors support and 320 x 480 pixels resolution.

Also known as Samsung SCH-R720, the Admire sports a 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus and video recording capabilities, but no LED flash.

Add a little color to your life with the Samsung Admire. The first Android 2.3 Gingerbread phone at Cellular South, the Admire also has a 3.5 inch screen, the Best Built-In Google Apps, Adobe Flash and more great features to help you connect with your world,” sounds the carrier's description of the Admire.

Samsung Admire is equipped with a single core 800 Mhz processor and may be delivered with full LTE support.

Other connectivity options offered by the Admire include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support, microUSB 2.0, 3.5mm audio jack with microphone, as well as GPS with A-GPS support.

The amount of memory that the phone embeds is unknown for the moment, but the carrier mentions that the Admire comes with microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).
