Apple is being targeted by a lawsuit filed in the US by Samsung Electronics which alleges that the iPhone 5 infringes on the latter’s patents.

As Judge Lucy Koh has just lifted a temporary ban on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, following a jury’s decision that the tablet was not infringing on Apple's patents, Samsung said on Tuesday that it filed a new lawsuit against the Cupertino giant alleging that the iPhone 5 infringed on on the Korean company’s inventions.

In fact, according to Samsung, multiple iDevices (iPhone, iPad and iPod touch) infringe on two specific mobile broadband standards patented by the Korean electronics vendor.

The company also alleges that the 4G / LTE technology in the iPhone 5 is patent infringing, but is yet to include those patents to its filing.

In a statement provided to Reuters, Samsung said, “[…] we have little choice but to take the steps necessary to protect our innovations and intellectual property rights.”
