Although it brought plenty of new digital camera models at CES 2011, it seems that Korean company Samsung still has plenty of such “aces” up its sleeve, since, only a couple of weeks after the aforementioned Las Vegas event, they've already outed yet another compact digital camera, the ST6500 model.
First and foremost, it's important to point out that the ST6500 sports an angled design, the camera's body being actually curved around the lens and angled at 7 degrees, which helps users get a better grip on the digicam.
Moreover, it comes equipped with a 16-megapixel sensor, as well as a wide (26mm) 5x zoom lens, a Smart Touch 3.0 User Interface enabled by the 3.0-inch multi-purpose LCD touch screen, as well as 720p video recording capabilities.
Additional features worth mentioning include the Image Stabilization OIS and DIS systems, plus the Sound Alive, Smart Auto (Still/Movie), Smart Filter 2.0 and Perfect Portrait System, that will enable users to take very good photos and videos in almost all conditions.
"Today's launch further establishes
Samsung's position of leadership, setting the benchmark for the latest high performing camera designs," said Mr. Hyunho Chung, executive vice president and head of the Digital Imaging Business, Samsung Electronics.
“It is an important landmark for Samsung, reinforcing our position as a leading innovator in the digital camera market and showing our belief in design-led innovation.
“The ST6500 offers not only luxurious design and the best imaging technology, but also demonstrates our commitment to our customers, by producing user-driven innovation in the form of ergonomic style and easy-to-use functions. The ST6500 is a unique offering to the market, and a welcome change for an industry that is dominated by straight lines," concluded Mr. Chung.
Pricing for the new ST6500 compact digital camera has been set at around $230 and the device is slated to arrive in stores at some point in March 2011.
