Tradition calls for a new Google phone to be launched as soon as the next flavor of Android is available, namely Ice Cream Sandwich, and it seems that the device might have been already confirmed.

Supposedly called Nexus Prime, the mobile phone was long rumored to be on its way to the market with Ice Cream Sandwich on board, and was also said to come from Samsung, the company that launched the second Nexus phone.

Up until now, we had only rumors on Nexus Prime, but it seems that more consistent info on the device might soon become available, starting with Samsung's legal team mentioning the device in a cease and desist letter. Apparently, a leaked firmware for the mobile phone has made an appearance on the web, and Samsung took action against those who offered it for download.

The letter they sent out to stop the firmware from being made available for download mentions the Nexus Prime quite a few times, thus confirming both the fact that the handset is real, and that Samsung is actually making it.

Details on the Nexus Prime did not emerge at this time, but some of the previous rumors on it did suggest that it would pack appealing hardware specifications.

The smartphone is expected to pack a large, 4.5-inch touchscreen display, or an even larger one. The screen should deliver a 720p HD resolution when made available (720 x 1280 pixels).

Rumor has it that the Nexus Prime will be powered by a Texas Instruments OMAP4460 dual-core application processor with each core clocked in at 1.5GHz, and that a dedicated PowerVR SGX540 GPU will also be included into the mix.

Recently, reports on the mobile phone being spotted at Verizon Wireless confirmed that a CDMA flavor of the device might arrive on shelves in the near future, in addition to the usual GSM model.

Unfortunately, no specific info on the availability of Nexus Prime is known for the time being, nor on the price tag it might feature when made available.
