Samsung is pushing its favorite material into almost every new product

Faux-leather is a love it or hate it kind of thing. But the design teams over at Samsung are surely passionately enamored with the idea.

Samsung has added faux-leather to its lines of phones, tablets and Chromebooks and recently to a new Ultrabook model.

Samsung Germany pulled the veil off the Samsung ATIV Book 9 Style, a sleek and slim laptop that comes with a 15.6-inch screen and a full HD display (1920 x 1080 pixel resolution).

I can’t really comprehend Samsung obsessive fondness for faux-leather, unless they are desperately trying to avoid smudges. Anyway, the laptop apparently boasts an impressive battery life of almost 12 hours.

Let’s talk some specs. The new lappy draws power from an Intel Core i5 Haswell processor combined with 4GB of RAM and backed up by 128GB solid state drive. It is equipped with 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, Gigabit Ethernet and features 2 USB 3.0 ports, 1 USB 2.0 port, HDMI and VGA ports and an SDXC card slot.

The new ATIV will ship with Windows 8.1 out of the box, which is odd because Samsung was said to be abandoning the production of Windows laptops in favor of Chromebooks.

The Ultrabook will be available in black and white and weighs just 4.3 pounds / 1.95 kg. Basically, the Ultrabook is pretty reminiscent to the ATIV Book 9 2014 Edition we saw unveiled at CES 2014, with the mention that this model is thicker and heavier, which is ironic for an Ultrabook.
