Samsung had a rather glamorous presence at the 2011 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, even though it only announced three new devices.

The Galaxy S II smartphone, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet and the Wave 578 bada phone managed to turn quite a lot of heads due to their impressive specs but also thanks to the elaborate launch events put together by Samsung.

However, it seems that the Korean manufacturer will not stop here with the announcements, as the company plans to release a third tablet next month in an attempt to improve its market share further.

According Yonhap News, Samsung has confirmed today that it will release an 8.9-inch tablet built around Google's Android mobile platform sometime in the first half of 2011.

The upcoming tablet will be released through various carriers worldwide, but the company's officials haven't disclosed any further details or possible launch dates so far.

Furthermore, Korean media has also reported that the 8.9-inch tablet could be available on the market no later than next month.

Although there's no mention of the Android version the new tablet will adopt, rumors say that Samsung is determined to get Honeycomb on it as well.

The Samsung official who confirmed the release of the 8.9-inch Android tablet refused to disclose any information regarding the device's specs sheet or the price tag.

Even though Samsung has recently released its largest tablet on the market, the Galaxy Tab 10.1, it seems that the company plans to take on all segments of the market by releasing products of all sizes and configurations.

The same 'blueprint' was successfully adopted by HTC, another major handset manufacturer, who released a wide range of devices with only slightly different configurations and designs.

Stay tuned for more information on the matter, as Samsung is preparing to make an official statement in a few weeks.
