The American branch of Samsung has unveiled their new DVD burner, called TruDirect SE-S204S. The device allows the users to create custom DVDs with digital content via a personal computer, with no need of an attached hard disk drive. The burner works in conjunction with the majority of digital devices such as camcoders, digital video recorders or mere photo cameras. It can burn images and videos on-the-fly, as the new technology eliminates data pre-mastering
, multiplexing or hard-disk buffering.
As cameras and camcoders become more and more popular with the consumers worldwide, Samsung TruDirect gives the opportunity of recording content without wasting time on additional data moving or time-eating file operations. The procedure is similar to the VCR recording methods and requires the presence of an image capturing device connected to the same PC or notebook as the TruDirect.
"As a global technology innovator, Samsung has always been at the forefront of optical disc drive technology and further pushes the technology envelope with the introduction of the new TruDirect SE-S204S," said Richard Aguilera, western regional sales manager, Samsung Storage Division. "The TruDirect SE-S204S enables users to easily and efficiently turn their digital videos or photos into DVDs in the easiest and fastest way ever."
The recorder only takes 65 minutes to create a 60 minutes video stream DVD, but if using a hard-disk camcoder, one hour of video content can be burnt in just 30 minutes. Samsung's device also boasts the fastest speeds of an optical disc drive already on the market, featuring 20X DVD+R and DVD-R writing, 16X DVD+R Dual Layer writing, 12X DVD-R Dual Layer writing and 12X DVD-RAM writing.
Samsung TruDirect SE-S204S Optical Disc Drive has already started shipping in US with a price tag of $159.99.
