Samsung sticks to its general marketing strategy and comes on the market with the D830 Ultra Edition 9.9, a mobile phone called by them
“the slimmest clamshell phone in the world”.
Having this phone in hands, one can very easily understand why they branded it with such a pompous label. It only measures 103x54x9.9 mm and has a flimsy weight of 85 grams, but it still manages to impress us with an outstanding pack of features for such a portable device.
The D830 presents itself with a 2.3 inch 262k colors 240x320 pixel TFT display, a 2 megapixel camera, with support for auto-focus and flash, a second external 16 gray monochrome display with a resolution of 96x16 pixels, a loudspeaker, a music player capable of playing MP3/AAC/AAC+/WMA audio files, WAP 2.0 with
xHTML support, connectivity through Bluetooth, GPRS class 10, EDGE class 10 and USB. It has 80 MB of shared memory for user storage, which can be expanded by the multimedia fanatics with the help of the expansion microSD memory card slot.
In conclusion this is a pretty impressive cell phone, with a very nice design which reminds us of the
RAZR, but still manages to be original and different from the other Samsung models and, especially, different from the phones the other important manufacturers have released on the mobile market, thus presenting itself to the Samsung customers as a well designed and high-tech slim clamshell.
