Samsung's Secret Color Phones Are Not Really Secret

- But they sure are feminine

By: Florin Troaca, Communications News Editor

Samsung Electronics is lately very preoccupied with providing mobile phones for girls and women. Well, it's no wonder, as a survey taken by the South Korean company revealed
that women buy more gadgets than men, and I guess this fact is also applicable when it comes to mobile phones.

After the L310 and L320 models announced last week, specially created for female users, Samsung now teamed up with Benefit Cosmetics (the Korean division) to bring two handsets from the Secret Color Phone series: Samsung SCH-W360 and Samsung SPH-W3600. Both devices are sold in a special package that contains, besides the phone itself, various makeup products. The new feminine phones come in two-tone schemes and have keyboards available in different colors: red, pink, blue or green.

Samsung SCH-W360 and Samsung SPH-W3600 are very similar handsets that come in a slider form. Both of them pack touchpad keyboards with vibration for tactile feedback, HSPDA for transfer speeds of up to 7.2Mbps and can support two Bluetooth connections at the same time, allowing users to share music with friends. The handsets also pack 2 Megapixel cameras for taking photos at a decent quality. Other specs were not revealed yet, but the "Anycall" logo that appears on them is a clear proof the devices are music-phones.

Samsung will also launch a clamshell from the Secret Color Phone line (by the way, weird naming for phones with such bright colors), the SPH-W4150. This is indeed a secret phone, in the way that except its image we don't have anything else about it. And although we wish we could teleport to South Korea, check the phone and return with its features, we can't really do it.

Apparently, only 600 Secret Color Phones will be available and only in South Korea (for the moment at least), for suggested retail prices ranging from 500,000 KRW (about $530) to 600,000 KRW (about $635).
