Samsung unveiled a new device last week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, namely a projector phone dubbed Samsung Show. The Korean handset comes to complete the line of such devices, started by Logic Wireless with its model, which was also showcased at CES 2009. For projecting images onto a big screen, Samsung's Show is reported to use TI's DLP technology, and not the Logic Bolt's LCoS system.

The handset comes as a rather bulky candybar-style phone, and it is reported to run a proprietary OS. Moreover, according to the news, the Samsung Show comes with support for Korea's DMB-T digital TV system. The user interface included with the handset is Samsung's TouchWIZ UI, which means that it features a touchscreen as well as movable widgets.

Samsung Show is stated to offer five options for its projector including “File Viewer,” which allows movies to be displayed in a large-screen format, “Album,” enabling photo slideshows to be projected, or “Story Telling,” which can be used to display animated Korean children's stories. A TV option is also present, as well as Flashlight, which is said to be nothing more than just a flashlight.

It seems that there weren’t too many specifications for the Samsung Show unveiled yet, but the news report says that some of the company's representatives announced that more details should be revealed later on this week. For now, the one thing that is certain is that the Samsung Show allows you to simply start a movie, fire up the projector and point it towards a screen. And it's not just about projecting movies, as the phone can be used to view any media stored in its memory.

The new Samsung Show is stated to head for a Korean launch by the end of the month, yet is seems rather unlikely to come to the United States as well.
