Samsung's New Affordable Monitors Come with 8000:1 Contrast Ratio

- The new displays are available in 17 to 22-inch sizes

By: Bogdan Botezatu, Hardware Editor

Samsung has unveiled its new models of LCD displays to join the SyncMaster series. The new monitors come in sizes of 17 to 22 inches and will hit the market at sub-$400 price tags.

The SyncMaster 743BX, 943BX, 943BWX, 2043BWX and 2243BWX LCD monitors come with a height adjustable stand with height, rotate and swivel capabilities and a contrast ratio of 8000:1. The BWX models are widescreen offerings that
can provide a true 16:10 landscape or 10:16 portrait orientation to accommodate tall or wide content. All the monitors in the series come with an ultra-slim bezel of only 15 millimeters, which lets users to efficiently tile multiple monitors side by side to create a larger working environment.

The monitors provide an excellent contrast ratio of up to 8,000:1, which means that the delivered image will be clearer, crispier with true-to-life colors. The improved contrast ratio makes it easier to distinguish a wider palette of colors. Moreover, the monitors come with Samsung’s proprietary MagicColor technology, which intelligently enhances color automatically for areas that need color adjustments. The new SyncMaster monitors feature DVI and HDCP connectors, that allows them to render the image accurately, with minimal amounts of distorsion.

"By combining an ultra-high contrast ratio with a compact, ergonomic design, the BX and BWX series of monitors is an excellent choice for any commercial user who seeks superior image quality and a flexible viewing experience," said Young Bae, senior product manager, display products, Samsung Electronics America, Inc. "These high-performance monitors are an appealing option for our channel partners looking to offer excellent specifications at a reasonable price."

The monitor's exterior aspect has also been refurbished, and now enjoys stylish, rounded edges and a glossy finish. The basic controls are completely "buttonless": instead, the company used touch controls for brightness, color and image size.

The SyncMaster 743BX ($239), 943BX ($279), 943BWX ($269), 2043BWX ($309) and 2243BWX ($359) are available immediately and come backed by a three-year limited warranty on labor and parts, including the backlight.
