Smooth and glossy like a baby's bottom

Samsung has announced the launch of the SGH-E790 handset, a clamshell form-factor cellphone with a mid level collection of features and with a lot of glossy sweetness. The device is weighing only 82 grams and this makes it an ideal candidate on a feather weight match on the mobile boxing ring.

As usual, Samsung kept the tradition and they've randomly named this phone, this fact meaning nobody is able to get any hints of what other siblings it has on the wild at the moment. Therefore, we can't have an idea of what its detailed spec sheet might be the first time we see the E790.

Luckily, they've also released a list of specifications saying the device features a 2 megapixel digital camera capable of capturing video clips at a resolution of 176x144 pixels, videos that go at 15 frames per second.

It is a tri-band GSM handset, working on 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz networks, and offers GPRS and EDGE data transfer technologies, Java, wireless Bluetooth with stereo A2DP profile, a media player capable of playing MP3, WMA, AAC audio files and MPEG4, H.263 video files, an internal 262k colors TFT display with a 176x220 pixels resolution, external 16 color gray scale OLED screen with a 80x64 resolution, 80 MB of internal memory and a microSD memory expansion card slot for the storage needy users.

This handset's extremely glossy case makes it look very similar to the Sony Ericsson Z610i and the Motorola KRZR K1. This probably means the E790 will be the direct competitor of those phones on the mobile market as soon as it hits the retail stores' shelves all over the world.

The Samsung SGH-E790 cellphone is already available in Russian stores and in other select countries and having a pretty basic spec sheet compared to the other mobile phones available on today's mobile market, it will most probably have a low price tag.
