Samsung is expected to launch in about a month a new all-touch mobile phone, the S5230. This handset comes in an ultra-thin form factor, as it measures only half an inch in thickness (11.9mm), yet its capabilities are not comparable with its size.

The new Samsung S5230 packs a nice range of multimedia features, including Samsung’s TouchWiz User Interface with Mobile Widgets, 3-megapixel camera with Smile Shot technology and video recording capabilities, as well as a bright 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen display, which can provide users with a 240x400 pixel resolution, and FM Radio with RDS.

The finger-friendly TouchWiz user interface included with the device allows users to experience easy navigation, while also being able to customize the homescreen the way they like. At the same time, the new device sports support for Google Search and Google's Gmail email service, while also packing Bluetooth 2.1 with support for handsfree headsets and USB 2.0 connectivity.

The Samsung S5230 features support for quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz), includes 50MB of internal memory, as well as an external memory card slot with support for up to 8GB of additional storage space. Besides full Internet browsing, users are also able to enjoy the handset's built-in accelerometer sensor for auto-rotation.

The new mobile phone also includes a QWERTY soft keyboard, “Gesture Lock” and handwriting features, as well as multi-format and DNSe to deliver enhanced sound quality, not to mention the music recognition features enabled by Shazam’s “Find Music” service. The device measures 104 x 53 x 11.9 mm and packs a 1000 mAh battery.

The Samsung S5230 all-touch handset is expected to hit the European market in April 2009, but for the time being there are no details on whether it will also go stateside. At the same time, no information on the price tag of the device is available either.
