With the latest update introduced to the All-In-One Code Framework, Microsoft also provided a new tool designed to streamline the search for code samples for developers that are leveraging Visual Studio 2010.

Jialiang Ge, support engineer 2 with Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) Community Support announced a new refresh to the All-In-One Code Framework today, May 27th, 2010.

As was the case with previous releases of the All-In-One Code Framework, the update enhances the content already available to developers.

The refresh “introduces 20 new code samples in the release,” Ge stated, revealing that devs will find updated resources such as new code samples for Dynamics, Internet Explorer and Windows.

With the All-In-One Code Framework update, Ge also highlighted the introduction of the new Sample Browser Visual Studio extension. Designed for Visual Studio 2010, the tool streamlines tasks such as searching, identifying and downloading code samples.

Of course, since this is a VS extension, developers can get their new code resources right in Visual Studio.

“This extension of Visual Studio integrates the Sample Browser of All-In-One Code Framework, which helps search for code samples whenever you are coding with VS2010. Along with the powerful filter, you can find and download the most proper & useful sample in a few seconds, right from within Visual Studio,” reads the official description of the tool.

When they’ll launch the tool for the first time, developers will be asked to do some configuration work. The extension will ask for devs to deal with the Sample Download and Connection settings.

“You will be asked to specify a directory for downloaded samples, and the connection settings determines proxy using, if no samples shows up after searching, you can try to change the connection setting to IE proxy setting,” the company states.

It’s important to note that although they can certainly leverage the Sample Browser or Sample Browser Visual Studio extension, developers can also head to CodePlex themselves, and grab any code samples they need right from the All-In-One Code Framework page.

Still, there are some inherent advantages to leveraging the Sample Browser and Sample Browser Visual Studio extension.

“They give you the flexibility to search samples, download samples on demand, manage the downloaded samples in a centralized place, and automatically be notified about sample updates,” Ge added.

I also have to mention that the All-In-One Code Framework is one of the winners of the ‘Microsoft Next competition’ – you can read more about this here.
