Samba 4.1.8, an app that seamlessly integrates Linux/Unix servers and desktops into Active Directory environments using the winbind daemon, is now available for download.

This is yet another maintenance build in the 4.1.x branch, but it’s a bigger update than the previous ones and comes with quite a few fixes.

According to the developers, the debug settings are now reset after reading the config file, the DNS no longer replies to other replies, the exit_daemon() is now used to communicate the status of the startup to system, Samba no longer assumes that PowerPC is big-endian, and the purge of all print jobs is now working properly.

Also, NetApps have been added, a failure that occurred in reverse lookup if the ID was from the domain range index #0 reading a deleted memory in reply_writeclose() is now working correctly, the installation on FreeBSD has been fixed, the empty body in the if-statement in continue_domain_open_looku has been fixed, and a couple of security fixes have been integrated.

More details about this release can be found in the official announcement. If you are using this version of Samba or an older one, you should upgrade as soon as possible to take advantage of the multiple fixes.
