Samba 4.1.7, an app that seamlessly integrates Linux/Unix servers and desktops into Active Directory environments using the winbind daemon, has been released with a fair number of changes and improvements.

This is just a maintenance build in the 4.1.x branch, but it comes with some pretty interesting changes, way more than what the previous versions have brought.

According to the developers, "force user" now works as expected, a problem with the server that was taking too long to respond to a MSG_PRINTER_DRVUPGRADE message has been fixed, an obvious memory leak in printer_list_get_printer() has been corrected, SessionLogoff no longer signs one to a connection with an outstanding notify request that crashes smbd, and a STATUS_NO_MEMORY response from Query File Posix Lock request has been fixed.

Also, users are now correctly added into local groups, the messages.tdb record is now cleaned correctly after and unclean smbd shutdown, the (lib)smbclient now works with NetApp, the maximum number of netbios name components have been increased, and the "spoolss: architecture" parameter usage has been added.

More details about this release can be found in the official announcement. If you are using this version of Samba, you should upgrade as soon as possible to take advantage of the multiple fixes.
