Samba 4.1.2, an app that seamlessly integrates Linux/Unix servers and desktops into Active Directory environments using the winbind daemon, is now available for download.

This new 4.1.2 release is now the latest stable version available for download and it's just a maintenance version, if we judge by the number of changes.

According to the developers, samba versions 3.2.0 and above (all versions of 3.2.x, 3.3.x, 3.4.x, 3.5.x, 3.6.x, 4.0.x, and 4.1.x) are now checking the underlying file or directory ACL when opening an alternate data stream.

According to the developers, proper marshaling and un-marshaling of ACLs has been implemented, the dns-HOSTNAME account has been disabled, listing EAs on *BSD for non-root users has been fixed, the VFS plugin has been fixed, and the 32bit macros are no longer breaking strict aliasing.

More details about this release can be found in the official announcement.
