Samba, an app that seamlessly integrates Linux/Unix servers and desktops into Active Directory environments using the Winbind daemon, is now at version 3.6.19.

This is the oldest stable branch still maintained by the developers. Most of the changes implemented are just maintenance fixes and improvements.

The developers have also warned users that this is the latest maintenance release and that only security fixes will be implemented now on. For more features, you will have to switch to the newer 4.x branch.

According to the changelog, Samba will now work with the Read Only Domain Controller, and the machine password change time has been increased to 10 minutes.

Samba is an important component that is needed to integrate Linux/Unix Servers and Desktops into Active Directory environments by using the winbind daemon.
