Actors Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana have agreed to reprise their roles as Jake Sully and Princess Neytiri. The two stars have finalized deals with the studio that will see them act in all the three “Avatar” sequels that have been announced.

Hollywood Reporter announced it had confirmation the actors were on board of the massive project, after signing their contracts. They will be joining Stephen Lang, the first actor to be confirmed in the casting process, who will be playing the evil Marines Colonel Quaritch.

Director James Cameron refused to disclose how he was going to be brought back to life in the sequels, but he did confirm he will be appearing in all three movies.

Of Worthington, Cameron had this to say: “Jake Sully is a rare combination of passion, strength, street smarts and soul, which requires a lot from an actor. Sam brought to the role a combination of sensitivity, vulnerability and strength.”

But he also mentioned Saldana: “Zoe captured every aspect of the character I envisioned, bringing to Neytiri a mix of delicacy, fierceness and incredible physicality. I am beyond pleased they'll be returning with us to Pandora.”

Work on the first sequel has still to begin. The project is in the early production stages, but it was revealed that all three follow-ups will be filmed in New Zealand.
