Sam Worthington, best known to fans for his role in James Cameron’s “Avatar” and McG’s “Terminator: Salvation,” fell down a few stairs right up on stage at the Australian Academy Cinema Television Arts (AACTA) Awards 2014.

A Vine of the mishap is embedded below so you can see that, while the whole thing was rather embarrassing, Sam recovered quickly and with grace. Had it been someone else, like myself for instance, I would have spilled myself all over that stage and not have made such a nice save as this one.

The awards gala took place in Sydney and saw Worthington present Lachy Hulme with the Best Lead Actor in a Television Drama award for “Power Games: The Packer-Murdoch Story,” the Daily Mail reports.

As he made room for Hulme to approach the microphone, Sam fell down the stairs behind him, which somehow he hadn’t noticed before.

The Mail makes a big fuss out of the fact that, earlier that evening, while on the red carpet, Sam refused to address marriage rumors “with a hint of arrogance that sometimes comes with international fame,” as if he had the fall coming for that.

If only for that save, and Worthington still deserves some credit, I think.
