Portrait and wedding photographer Sam Hurd previously shared on his blog a few photography secrets, including his prisming and freelensing techniques, as well as tips on how to use the Brenizer method.

In a recent post, Sam revealed yet another interesting technique, called lens chimping. The new method can be accomplished by placing a convex lens element in front of your camera lens.

The effect achieved with this combination of optics will distort the light that comes from the side of the lens, creating beautiful reflections and circular light orbs that will give your photos a unique, artistic look.

This technique is also convenient, as the lens can be easily carried in a pocket along with your gear. If you don't know where to get a convex lens, Amazon sells 75mm lenses of 17.5cm focal length that are perfect for trying out the new lens chimping method. Check out below a small photo gallery that includes pictures shot using this approach.
