Rumor has it that the front runner for the role of FBI special agent Johnny Utah in the highly anticipated remake of “Point Break” is none other than Sam Claflin. The good-looking Utah was played in the original by a young Keanu Reeves.

Among the other candidates that were being eyed as a suitable replacement, worthy of such honor, were Chris Pine and Taylor Kitsch. But so far, Claflin's name seems to be at the top of the list. You might remember Sam from his role in the latest “Hunger Games” film, where he played an unexpected ally to the Jennifer Lawrence's main character.

The other lead in the film, as you might remember from the original, was Patrick Swayze who played Bodhi, an adrenaline-junkie surfer. That role has already been attributed to Gerard Butler, but in his case too, there is no official confirmation.

The producers are still working on the casting, but also on the script and the screenplay. The director for the film was chosen as Ericson Core, the main responsible for “The Fast and the Furious” and “Daredevil: The Movie.”
