It’s very rare that a movie title is quite literal, but this is precisely the case with “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.” The first trailer for it has just dropped and, while the title might not be that alluring, the clip certainly is.

Based on a book by Paul Torday and directed by famed director Lasse Hallström, the film tells the story of a visionary sheik who dreams of making salmon fishing a possibility in the dessert.

The British Prime Minister happens to need a “good will” story to divert attention from the violence in the Middle East, so this is just as good an opportunity as any other to create one, by lending the sheik a hand – and a salmon fishing expert.

The film stars Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt and Kristin Scott Thomas, and will be out on March 2, 2012.

The first trailer has anything in it from elements of a fishing story, to a love one and, of course, a masked political satire. All in all, it’s quite delightful.
