Did you ever feel so drained of energy and lacking motivation before your scheduled session at the gym that you wished you could come across some way to get in shape by just thinking about it? Actress Salma Hayek has found the closest thing to it.

The 48-year-old star tells People magazine that she doesn’t have the discipline or the time to get actual exercise, so she’s been taught the next best thing: she basically stays in shape by holding her body “a certain way” that activates all the muscles.

“It’s restorative yoga”

Speaking with the publication a few days ago, the stunning Hayek revealed her biggest fitness secret. Where other stars admit to sticking to restrictive diets and almost impossible workout routines, Salma says she had neither the time nor the inclination for that.

She admires those people who have the discipline to get up in the morning and exercise before starting a new workday, but she doesn’t have it. Neither does she have the time, she adds: she works “at least” 16 hours a day and she has had cases when she actually worked for 20 hours straight.

Where does one fit in a workout session under these circumstances? The solution for Salma came from “a woman in London.”

“[She] taught me how to hold my body in a way where the muscles are activated all day long. So even when you brush your teeth, you’re working the muscles,” the actress says. “It’s restorative yoga. She taught me to tone [my muscles] without clenching them. You relax them and focus on the parts that need to be used, but never with tension. If you’re aware of your body, you’d be surprised by the effect it can have.”

That last part is just in case you were wondering if she doesn’t grow exhausted from staying tense between 16 to 20 hours a day. She doesn’t because she’s not just clenching.

Salma Hayek, a natural beauty

The actress has been doing many interviews in recent weeks to promote her work as producer, and among other things, she talked a lot about her beauty routine.

At 48 and after so many years in the spotlight, Hayek remains one of the most graceful and beautiful presences on any red carpet. She also has her own skincare line, so there’s the assumption that she is in possession of the secret to growing old gracefully.

In her most recent interview, she said that the phrase “grow old gracefully” was actually her secret: she never got any kind of work done on her face, whether surgery or any of the less invasive options, like fillers and Botox.

Salma swears by a healthy but not restrictive diet, a good moisturizer and quality skincare products, a good night’s sleep and, as we’ve seen today, the knowledge to hold her body in such a way as to stay in perfect shape.
