Salix Xfce, a GNU/Linux distribution based on Slackware, that is simple, fast and easy to use, is now at version 14.0 Alpha 1.

Salix Xfce 14.0 Alpha 1 is available for both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures. The most important thing to mention about this distribution is the fact that the developers have decided to stick with GTK+2 applications. However, GTK+3 will be available in the repositories.

Other changes worth talking about include the replacement of File-Roller with mate-file-archiver, the replacement of Evince with mate-document-viewer, and the replacement of Brasero with Xfburn.

A complete list of changes can be found in the official announcement.

Download Salix Live Xfce 14.01 Alpha 1 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is an alpha version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
