Back in October this year, Nikon launched a lawsuit against Sakar/Polaroid for design patent and trade dress infringement regarding their Polaroid iM1836 Android-based interchangeable-lens camera that looks very similar with Nikon's 1 J1/J2 models.

If we look at the pictures, even the 30-110mm lens is almost identical with Nikon's Nikkor 1 30-110mm f/3.8-5.6, which made the renowned Nippon optics manufacturer to initiate a lawsuit after they could not reach an amicable agreement with Sakar.

Today, in a press release, Nikon announced that the court has issued consent injunction to stop the sales and promotion of the Polaroid iM1836 digital camera.

“As part of the injunction, Sakar will no longer manufacture, import, advertise, promote, offer for sale, sell, or ship the Polaroid iM1836 digital camera in its present configuration,” states the court's injunction.

Maybe Sakar's strategy was to get a little publicity from this lawsuit from the beginning. What's your opinion on this matter? Let us know in the comments section below.
