Saints Row: The Third Has Free-to-Play Steam Weekend

The developers at Volition and publisher THQ have announced that they will allow any user of the Steam digital distribution service from Valve to play their open-world action game Saints Row: The Third for free during the weekend.

Those who are interested can download the game and then jump right in to explore the city of Steelport, seeing how the Saints gang can battle the three already established criminal organizations that already inhabit the area.

The free weekend offer should appear as Saints Row: The Third Free Weekend – Sep 2012 (Complimentary) in the purchase histories of those who want to take part in the free weekend.

Saints Row: The Third was praised for the wide array of activities it offered and for the humorous take on the open-world concept.

At the moment, Volition is working on a new installment in the series, based on the last piece of downloadable content that was supposed to launch for Saints Row: The Third.
