Saints Row 4, the new action open world title from developer Volition and publisher Deep Silver, is the new number one video game on the United Kingdom market for the week that ended on August 24, showing the sales power of the first titles of the fall launch schedule.

The new game allows players to use superpowers and virtual reality to engage in all kinds of destructive and fun missions, and initial reviews have been positive.

Saints Row 4 has managed to get to number one despite being on sale for just three days of the tracked period, according to data from UKIE.

Second place belongs to another new launch, Splinter Cell: Blacklist from Ubisoft, which also performed well during its first week on sale, as players returned to the classic gameplay of the Sam Fisher-powered series.

Disney Infinite takes over the final place on the podium, yet another new entry, this one focused on an extensive range of toys and a variety of game modes that use their unique abilities.

PayDay 2, the former number one in the UK, has disappeared from the top ten, and Minecraft on the Xbox 360, which previously stood in second place, is now in fourth.

Fifth position belongs to Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 from Treyarch and Activision, which is benefiting from the coming launch of its final piece of DLC, called Apocalypse.

FIFA 13, a game that’s close to one year old, is in sixth place, and Animal Crossing: New Leaf is in seventh, a drop of two when compared to the previous seven-day period.

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is in eighth, followed by The Last of Us.

A final new entry, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, closes down the United Kingdom top ten.
