The game focuses on irony rather than on straight up violence

Jim Boone, a producer working on Saints Row 4, believes that playing the game, despite its adult content and its tendency to poke fun at serious issues, does not have a bad influence on players.

He tells GamesIndustry.biz that, “People understand there’s a certain levity to what we’re doing.”

He adds, “I tend not to think it’s any worse for viewers than watching an R-rated movie. It’s just entertainment.”

Saints Row has allowed players to pursue insurance fraud in order to get more income and use a sewage truck to spray houses in the game world.

The fourth title will include superpowers, a virtual reality and a weapon that fires dubstep tracks.

The game will be launched on the PlayStation 3 from Sony, the Xbox 360 and the PC on August 20 in North America and three days later in Europe.
