Jolla’s tablet is a huge IndieGogo success and the Finnish company has already launched its slate in China and other countries. The next step would be to improve the Sailfish OS, the ecosystem Jolla’s tablet is powered by.

In this regard, the company has already decided on a roadmap for the Sailfish OS, though it has yet to confirm a release schedule. From the latest developer mailing list, we have learned the improvements Jolla plans to bring to the OS and when they will be available.

The update on Jolla’s progress mentions that there will be two major updates for Sailfish OS in the coming months: update 11 and update 12.

The next Sailfish OS version (update 11) is at release candidate 5 and Jolla says that users should expect another release candidate before they decide on the release schedule.

This means that there’s no telling when exactly the new features mentioned by Jolla will be delivered to Sailfish OS users. The good news is that now we know some of the improvements the Finnish company plans to bring to its proprietary OS.

The new UI framework will be demoed at MWC 2015

According to Jolla, its tablet hardware adaptation is almost ready for Mobile World Congress 2015. USB charging, stereo speakers, sensors, accelerometer, Bluetooth, WLAN functionalities have been verified.

Next up is the work on the new UI framework, which is progressing at a good pace. The lock screen has been separated from the home screen. Also, Jolla has added improved notifications with visual grouping and additional actions.

Events view with a richer user experience and improved home screen interactions and transitions will be added as well. Last but not least, there will be a new swipe edge transition in the Sailfish OS.

The main goals for update 11 will be to demo the new UI framework and tablet functionality at MWC 2015, as well as make the device usable in filesystem full condition to allow the user to recover from it more easily.
