London-based Agility Global has recently introduced the world to its Saietta R electric sports bike, and there is little denying that this two-wheeler is anything but ordinary looking.

The Saietta R was unveiled earlier this year at Clean and Cool Mission 2013 in Colorado, US.

Its manufacturers say that it goes from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.9 seconds, and that it can reach a top speed of 105 miles per hour. Besides, word has it that it can cover between 130 and 150 miles on just one charge.

So, if one decides that they wish to drive it at full speed, odds are they have about half an hour to make the most of the experience before they have to pull over and find a charging station.

On the other hand, the bike might be just the right thing for people who plan to chiefly use it to cruise up and down city streets.

According to Business Green, the folks behind this SF-looking bike started working on its development about five years ago. They have invested some $1.8 million (€1.3 million), and have also received $2.45 million (€1.8 million) in grants.

Still, Lawrence Marazzi, i.e. one of Agility Global's founders, maintains that it was money well spent.

“We are offering a prestige motorcycle. It's incredible high quality, aerospace technology. Someone interested in motorcycles who wants a statement product will immediately understand the attraction,” he said in a statement.

Furthermore, “You can focus much more on the handling of the bike because you are not operating this Steam engine," he says. "You can focus on the driving. It is a truly different handling experience that really does aim to make the bike an extension of the driver.”

Agility Global says that, because it runs on electricity, the bike pretty much pays for itself in about five years' time in fuel costs alone. For the time being, the bike is priced at $22,500 (€16,400).
