The French built cell phones too

From the wave of cell phones launched by the Asian producers, only a few names with European resonance are noticeable and when we?re not referring to a Nokia phone, the odds are inclining towards the French producer Sagem.

Even though it doesn?t have the reputation of a top producer, Sagem evolved a lot in the last two years and was able to provide the latest features available and to offer complete terminals at an excellent price. One such example is Sagem myX6-2.

At first sight, the model doesn?t seem to bring any revolutionary features compared to other telephones in its price category, but it?s a giant step forward for Sagem. The TFT screen has a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels and displays 262.000 colors. The model includes a digital camera of 1.3 mega pixels and an 8X digital zoom. Sagem myX6 also includes Bluetooth connecting solutions and the possibility of attaching a microSD/TransFlash memory card of maximum 256 MB.

The phone supports numerous digital files such as: AAC, AAC+ and optionally MP3, H263 and MPEG4, and other video formats can be rendered.

Sagem myX6-2 can be used in any of the networks: GSM 900/1800/1900, is GPRS compatible and it includes WAP 2.0 connecting solutions, Web browser and Java. MMS messages can be transmitted or it can hold IMPS conferences. The French haven?t thought about including an email client. PC synchronization can be achieved through the infrared port or directly via a simple USB cable.

The dimensions, weight and autonomy are situated within normal limits: 110 x 47 x 19 mm, 104 grams and 4 hours of conversation versus 14 days in stand-by.

The design of the phone is sober and it is suitable for businessmen. If Sagem continues to produce telephones at the same standards as now, top producers will have to start worrying, the French providing complete solutions from technical point of view, but with much more accessible prices.
