Slim and "icy" candybar

First announced during MWC 2008, at the beginning of February, Sagem my721X is among the latest fashion oriented mobile phones to come from the French-based handset manufacturer. Although the phone was set for an April release, for some unknown reasons it will only hit the market in late May.

Measuring 112 x 48 x 9.8 millimeters and weighing 90 grams, Sagem my721X is one of the slimmest devices ever made in France. The phone is also called "So Ice", due to its icy overall aspect that will surely attract many users who want to have a handset that can stand out. The case of "So Ice" is made out of brushed aluminum and features "soft-touch" finishes.

Despite its slimness, Sagem my721X manages to pack pretty nice features. We have a 3.15 Megapixel camera with video recording, a 2 inch TFT display with 256K colors and 176 x 220 pixels, music player, FM radio with RDS, Bluetooth, WAP 2.0 browser, Instant Messaging, Java MIDP 2.0, handsfree and microSD card support. Unfortunately, there's no 3G and not even EDGE, as the phone only offers tri-band GSM connectivity (900 / 1800 / 1900) with GPRS.

Sagem my721X includes a battery that can keep the phone going for up to 3 hours in talk-time mode, up to 6 hours in music playback mode and up to 200 hours in stand-by mode - not that great, but most of the fashion oriented handsets come with rather weak batteries, so I guess we shouldn't complain too much.

The price of Sagem my721X was not disclosed yet and neither were the markets where it will first be available. Anyway, we think this pretty little handset will probably get to be released in most of the countries across Europe, for a decent retail price. In May we'll see just how decent.
