A multiple vehicle crash on the Sagamore bridge in Bourne, near Boston resulted in the death of an Israeli citizen.

The accident took place on Wednesday, July 3, a rep for the Massachusetts State Police reported, according to Israel National News.

The man died when someone driving a dark pickup smashed into another vehicle, setting off a chain reaction then bolting from the scene.

Police are currently looking for the hit-and-run driver, and they alert the public to the fact that his car might be damaged. He was last seen traveling eastbound on Route 6.

“We are seeking a dark-colored pickup truck, possibly with minor to moderate damage to its left front end or left side, which was last seen leaving the scene heading east on Route 6.

“We just would like to speak with him or her,” a State Police spokesman says.

The driver of the truck came in from the Scenic Highway, made it onto Route 6, then crashed into the 2004 GMC Sierra that another person was driving.

The force of the impact sent the Sierra right into oncoming traffic, hitting the 2012 Chrysler minivan that belonged to the victim on the westbound lane.

Five people were in the car, three of whom were children. The driver was the only casualty, but the rest of the passengers have been transported to the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island.

They were on holiday in Massachusetts and one of the kids had recently had a Bar Mitzvah celebration.

The unidentified driver of the Sierra, a 43-year-old man from Sandwich, has incurred serious wounds and he is being treated at South Shore Hospital.

According to Cape Cod Times, the bridge was closed off for hours with travelers from the Scenic Highway and the Cape being directed to the Bourne Bridge.
