SafeDisc Protection for Mac

Software piracy is a big problem, and this affects us all. Just think that sometimes, for a game
legally bought, there may be another 2,3, maybe even 10 or more pirated copies, and that isn't something to think about like "I played that game before being officially launched, and finished before my friends got it from the store", because next time, you may not get a game from that producer, due to the fact that many companies went down, although they had really good products available.

TransGaming Technologies is a company that has created the dominant software portability technology that allows game developers to build games for a single system and then migrate them to other platforms faster, cheaper and better than anyone else; the best example I can give you now is Cider, a virtualization product from TransGaming that allows Windows games to run on Intel-based Macs without having Windows installed.

Yesterday, TransGaming announced an agreement with Macrovision that has the purpose of bringing the SafeDisc copy protection technology to Mac OS X. Things look really simple - you get your game, you use it, but you can't copy it. SafeDisc is Macrovision's copy protection solution for software publishers, and its creators claim that it can prevent users from burning copies, as I was just saying, but even the emulation of disc images is no longer possible for programs protected with SafeDisc.

According to TransGaming's CEO Vikas Gupta, the gaming industry is losing 3 billion dollars per year due to piracy, and SafeDisc's presence on the Mac can help publishers confide in the security of their products for this platform, especially since SafeDisc's uses are not limited to games only.
