Black and white horror thriller to use Oblivion engine

The Nintendo Wii console might generally mean funny little colorful characters doing funny things inside a sweet little colorful world, but this will soon change, as you probably know, since Sadness is going to take over your Wii and turn it into a black and white horror thriller. Probably not the best idea for a family-friendly console that is generally used by casual gamers, still a decision that should be applauded.

Having in mind that the horror themed psychological thriller Sadness will come with some original graphics and, overall, an innovative system (it will be a completely black and white game, to name one of the most interesting ideas put into practice), the developers have decided to take everything to the next level and build the game on the Gamebryo platform which is filled with features that do not typically come with standard SKUs.

"Without a doubt, Gamebryo is the most powerful engine available for the Wii. After getting familiar with the engine several months ago we made the decision to choose Gamebryo. Since then, our team has been working on Sadness and we are quite impressed," said Tomasz Wisniowski, Project Manager of Nibris, Sadness developers. "We will have quite a few graphical effects in our game, which some believe are impossible to attain on the Wii. Gamebryo helped make it possible. We are firmly convinced we made the right choice."

We have the same hopes because Sadness promises to become one great game - a title that could turn many Wii players towards the more hardcore parts of the gaming world. It is a horror adventure with an engaging storyline, set sometime before the first World War. Players will need to confront their greatest fears and protect themselves in hopes of not getting trapped inside the main character's nightmare. The game comes with eight different endings and, having in mind that it will be a full black and white experience, you shouldn't expect to find too many daisies or cute butterflies in this world.

A release date is not set, actually, it seems that things have just started to move again, having in mind that the previous release date was set to "fourth quarter of 2007". But it is OK, really - better late than never.
