It's been a while since the last Sacred game was something that took precious time away from our lives, and publisher Deep Silver's announcement that a third iteration in the series is in the works has definitely stirred some spirits.

The much-awaited continuation of the action role-playing game franchise is drawing ever closer, and now developer Keen Games has put together a nice gameplay trailer, along with delivering the official launch date for the game.

The trailer shows the first ever gameplay footage from Sacred 3, recorded on a PlayStation 3 and offering a quick peek at what is to come, showing some of the abilities that players will use to dispatch the hordes of enemies, as well as some of the monsters with enhanced dispatching resistance that gamers will go against.

The game will support both online and offline cooperative multiplayer, but players who aren't feeling particularly sociable can tackle the content on their own just fine, knowing they have the option of drop-in / drop-out online multiplayer as well.

Gamers will be able to play as one of Ancaria's five different cultures, the Safiri, Khukuri, Seraphim, Ancarian and Malakhim, the latter being a new addition in Sacred 3.

Sacred 3 is currently scheduled for launch on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on August 22, 2014.
