Sabayon Linux 5.5 XFCE, LXDE, E17, ServerBase and OpenVZ Available Now

Sabayon Linux 5.5 has only been available for a month now and a number of 'spins,' images with alternative desktops, are now being launched. Sabayon Linux 5.5 with E17, XFCE or LXDE is now available for those who prefer lighter weight desktop environments.

There is also a new release of the Sabayon Linux SpinBase/OpenVZ templates for virtualized environments and building your own flavour of Sabayon Linux.

Finally, the Sabayon 5.5 ServerBase is now available as well for those looking for a minimal server setup.

"We are happy to announce the immediate availability of E17, XFCE, LXDE, SpinBase/OpenVZ, ServerBase Sabayon 5.5 'Spins' built on top of Sabayon 'SpinBase' ISO images," Fabio Erculiani announced.

"The E17 'stable-releases-are-for-n00bs' Desktop Environment, the well known XFCE and LXDE environments, the SpinBase+OpenVZ template ready to be used in server deployments, and last but not least, ServerBase, a very minimal Sabayon release with a server-optimized Linux kernel," he explained.

Highlights of Sabayon 5.5 E17, XFCE, LXDE Spins:

· Bootable Image suitable for a CD or USB thumb drive;
· Linux 2.6.37 Desktop kernel - with TuxOnIce and AUFS support;
· NetworkManager 0.8 as default networking tool;
· NTFS support via NTFS-3G;
· Midori 0.3.2 - WebKit-based browser;
· VirtualBox integration;
· Super fast installation;
· Very minimal setup to fit into a CD, no fancy features and drivers. Designed for low-end computers.

· Enlightenment 17 Desktop Environment - recently built from SVN
· XFCE 4.8;
· LXDE 0.5.0.

Sabayon Linux 5.5 was released a little over a month ago with the traditional GNOME and KDE desktop options. Later on, the Sabayon Linux 5.5 CoreCDX and SpinBase Editions were made available. Now, the rooster is complete with the launch of five more flavours.

i think this new advance technology in the linux field .......... i like it but can you tell me is it easy to use as compare to other linux servr?
